Built by Zhu Di the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, after adhering to the ancient art of Fen Shui the site was not only scenic but was also strategically placed and surrounded by natural barriers which is thought to have driven away ancient bad demons.

In addition, a sight to all visitors of this burial site is its marble archway, built in the 19th century this four hundred and fifty year old archway is still magnificent as it was then. Moreover, all 13 mausoleums are architectural masterpieces that should not be left out from a visitor’s itinerary.

All the emperors were buried at a foot of a mountain in the area and were connected to each other by what is known as a scared path in the Chinese tradition.  With statues of vivid animals along the sacred paths and larger than life mausoleums, visitors to this huge but magnificent site will not be disappointed a single bit. With its long and valuable heritage this is a one place to visit to truly understand a part of this great country’s history first hand.
